Bells Lane, Sep 15, 2026

September 17, 2026

It was a glorious morning to be on Bells with thirteen club members; beautiful weather, temps, great group of birders, etc. Although most of us would say it was a quiet morning with only two warblers, we ended up tallying 45 species. Starting at the private pond, among other sightings, we had four Wood Duck, Chimney Swifts, Pied-billed Grebe, Great Blue, Kingfisher, N Rough-winged (25), Barn (3) and Cliff (1) Swallows, one Palm Warbler and one Brown Thrasher. We headed back to the lane and continued to add to the medley of usual suspects … doves, RB woodpecker, Downy, Hairy, Pileated, Flicker, Kestrel, Pewee, Phoebe, Jays, American and Fish Crows, one Indigo….  Mark and Allen found a Magnolia. On our return, we started to see kettles of vultures, two Bald Eagles, two Red-shouldered Hawks and then a group of 25 Broad-winged Hawks joined in the group. It was a great ending to a marvelous morning! As always, I thank all of those who came out for the morning. With so many great birders, it always adds more enjoyment to the walk! – Penny Warren
