McCormick Farm, Jan 21, 2026

On Wednesday January 21, twelve members of the Augusta Bird Club endured a frigid morning on our walk at McCormicks Farm in Raphine. Ten species were recorded. Due to the freezing temperatures the ponds were frozen over, which limited our adding waterfowl to our list. The appearance of three Common Ravens acrobatically performing for us was so cool. The list follows: 1 Turkey Vulture, 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker, 1 Blue Jay, 2 American Crow, 3 Common Raven, 1 Carolina Wren, 1 White-breasted Nuthatch, 1 Carolina Chickadee, 1 Song Sparrow, 2 Northern Cardinal. Much appreciation to my fellow birders who were so brave and committed to the joy of counting birds. See you in February. – Jo King
