Field trip to Boy Scout Lane, Mar 28, 2026

Six members took an early spring bird walk up the Boy Scout Lane. It started out chilly, but the bright sun eventually warmed things up. The big surprise was an Osprey circling above the lake. There were also a few Tree Swallows and N. Rough-winged Swallows above the lake. We had nice views of a Pine Warbler, some Red-bellied Woodpeckers, and two Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers. We heard Field Sparrows at several locations. Finally, we saw two White-breasted Nuthatches, an American Kestrel and a Savannah Sparrow on the road back to town. All in all, not a bad day.
