eBird’s frequency bar chart represents how the occurrence of bird species changes over the course of the year.  These charts are created directly from eBird data. You can generate your own eBird bar chart HERE for any region (state, county, city), birding hotspot, or even a personal location.

Reading the Bar Chart:  The taller the green bar, the more likely you will encounter that species during that time of year. No bar (an empty box) indicates a species has not been reported in that region during that time period.  eBird bar charts are based on frequency: the percentage of checklists reporting a particular species within a specified date range and region. Thus, taller bars indicate a species is reported on a large proportion of checklists from that area and time of year.
