2026 Event Success! – We had a terrific 2026 “Show Season” with our Augusta Bird Club table exhibit at Earth Day Staunton (Apr 26) and Waynesboro Riverfest (May 2)! Hundreds of visitors visited to learn about who we are and what we do. People really enjoyed our new interactive Nest Toss game and the Bird Trivia Wheel! These are terrific events to promote our Club and hopefully stir their interest in birds and bird conservation. A special thanks to the following people who helped make our exhibit so successful: Rich Wood, Ramona Bearor, Sarah Foster, Wendy Gnidziejko Hill, Sue Elmore Leonard, Diana Easley, Ann Cline, Marilyn Lockhart, Bonnie Hughes, Peter Van Acker, Linda J. Matkins, and a big thank you to Lynne Parks and Chris Siron for making the awesome seed bombs we handed out!

Bluebird Programs – In Feb 2026, on behalf of the Augusta Bird Club, Rich Wood presented two Bluebird programs for all the first graders at Bessie Weller Elementary School in Staunton, VA, as they get ready to begin monitoring the bluebird nest boxes on their school property. Augusta Bird Club Receives Wildlife Grant – The Augusta Bird Club is excited to announce that we recently were awarded a 2025 Wildlife Grant from the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources. The $2,300 grant was used to purchase 15 new pairs of binoculars that can be loaned out to participants on our field trips, school programs and birding workshops. We also want to focus on increasing birding opportunities for our underserved populations. You can watch a recent WHSV news video that featured our grant award HERE.
